Wondering how to remove steering cable from rack assembly, there are no pins to disconnected it from the housing, the housing seems to be one solid piece with a plastic housing around the pinion to where the cable meets this assembly. Not exactly sure who the steering system is made by, didnt see any markings but its on a 87 boat and sure its the same factory assembly if that helps any ugh

You need to give folks more information for them to be able to possibly help you. What make boat, What engine/drive system as in ob or i/o, What make engine/drive system, power steering on not. All of this will help to make a educated guess or someone may really know once they see that. Not trying to be hard just trying to get you some help.

Agree....You can take the 4 bolts out where it meets the gear in the helm but i doubt you will find an exact replacement.

I went through this a couple weeks ago on a mid 90's bass boat.
The old steering was Detmar and no longer make those parts.
Ended up replacing the complete steering including helm with a Teleflex NFB.
