I have a 69 merc 65hp with a leaky fuel line inside the motor. i tried to take it loose from what appears to be a fuel pump, but it doesn't seem to come loose. Any ideas on how to get this apart
I've found personally that when the fuel line won't come off easily or with a minor amount of persuasion that I just cut the fuel line linearly across the connection and then cut a new piece of fuel line and replace it.......if it's leaking you need to replace it anyways!
usally that would work. the line I'm talking about appears to have a crimped fitting on the end of it. its a braided line with a rubber coating on it. it connects to an elbow going into the top of the fuel pump. i tried to unscrew it , but it doesn't seem to go anywhere. the other end of the line is on the front of the motor where you hook the line from the tank.
You have to disconnect the end at the quick disconnect first, then it will unscrew from the fuel pump. It is not a swivel fitting, you have to rotate the entire line when unscrewing it.
