Oh I screwed up... NOW what...

Well folks... here's the deal. I started my first big project. Putting a new floor in my 16 Glastron T162. No problem-right? Well, I put all the plywood in. Glassed that-it was pretty. Laid down some chopped strand mat-started glassing that over. I thought it looked pretty good. When I came back to check on it, i discovered there were some major rolls in the mat. Now its dry and oh man.
Should I take random orbit and grind out all the rolls, there's like four about a foot long, and lay some new mat on top of that, or ????
Any advice on how to prevent this is welcome and appreciated. Love my boat. Got one season out the "sponge" deck. Hate carpet-didn't know what was hiding when I bought her.

Good news was/is... no real damage to the stringers. Looks like the damage started with the ski well and spread out.

I will post updates and some pics.
Thanks in advance.

I would take a belt sander too it and stick some more down. Then use a roller to help get all the wrinkles out.

Welcome to iboats!

Yup, sand and lay out some more csm over those spots.

You only did the decking? So, the stringer's, transom and flotation were all dry and in good shape?

If you use too much resin the glass will float to the top and produce waves,

but if you got air pockets direct sunlight could be the problem , gassing can make air pockets, or maybe it was just plain poor application.?
I like to stay with it as it cures.

Re: Oh I screwed up... NOW what...

Thanks to everyone for the advice so far. The stringers were good, there wasn't any foam or anything else under the deck-now yall have me scared.
The rot seems to have started at the ski locker edges (which I didn't put back) and spread out.
Wondering now if I should have just left the glassed wood alone. Man it was pretty. Oh well.
Gonna smooth it all up tommorrow. Get it ready for paint. Paint the thing white and then mount some big igloos in it for seats, works better that way for fishing down here on the 3rd coast.
I will try to post pics tommorrow if I can figure it out.

Welcome to Iboats, sounds like you are on the right path to correcting the problem. Glad you stringers and transom are in good shape, thought my stringers were in fair shape but they were bad all the way from the bow to the stern:(
good luck in your project tink

I'll second on the use of the belt sander. It will make short work to knock it back down flat. The orbital will work as well but you'll waste hours when the belt sander will get it in 5 minutes.

Those ski lockers cause a world of problems, must be some bad designed lockers out there. You dodged a big bullet.;)
