92' Sylvan SeaMonster, good boat for 1st boat?

Well the other boat I was looking to buy was sold before I could look at it.

I have come across this boat, here is the posting for it:
Im selling a 92 Sylvan sea monster its 15ft has a Merc 35hp ob thats oil injected and has elec. trim. The boat has fish finder, live well, seats,ect., The trailer has new tires,new lights and a new crank. The boat runs great, the carpet needs to be replaced but I have 2 rolls of new carpet that will come with it. This is a great fishing boat fresh or salt. Email me with any questions. Im Selling the boat for $3000

Anyone know anything about these boats, is $3000 a good price?
I looked it up and it said the average price is just over a grand, then the msrp said just over 3 grand. Which is the correct price to go by?

I bought a 16' sylvan seamonster last summer. It's a 1982 hull w/1986 suzuki DT75 I paid 2800.00 for it. It's a great first boat for me. The floors are rotted in the rear, and I 'm in the process of rebuilding it. But I did take it to Canada for a week last fall it ran great. Price is always a matter of opion, how far do you have to drive to get it? What else is availble in your time frame, If you wait long enough, keep looking you will always find another boat.

Ah, the price seems alittle high, if the guy boaught the boat 18 years ago for 3k I don't think it is still worth that.

If NADA says 1000 I woudl try to get him somewhere in that area.

Sylvan is a really good boat, they are made by Smoker Craft so it is a good boat, just priced really high.

Well I check out the boat is it is in very good condition.
Trailer is like new, hull looks good, interior looks good as well and the motor runs fine. I got him down to $2500. I think I will buy it.

The boat is 25 minutes away from me.
