The self tapping screw that threads into the lower portion of my raw water impeller housing snapped during re-assembly. I cant find an identical screw anywhere without buying an entire impeller kit. Would it be acceptable to use a long stainless lag bolt and nylon lock nut as a replacement? The hole goes all the way through and overhangs the lower unit casting allowing plenty of room to accomplish this. Thak you.

I just drill em and tap em for a stainless bolt.

just don't over torque it. That part of the pump cover and it isn't the strongest. Believe me you don't need to muscle it. Also, if this is a saltwater drive put some perfect seal on the threads before you put a bolt in.
