Hard time finding model year of this 85 hp Merc

I am having a hard time finding the model year of this Mercury 850 motor

Serial # 9086479 I am in Canada.

I want to buy this as a parts motor for my 1977 merc 850 ser # 7091620

but i am not sure if the 2 motors (parts) are compatible.

Please help.

These are my 2 sources and it looks like your serial number may be wrong! I think it starts with a 4 instead of a 9..........which would put it as a '85 850

Serial number 9086479 is Belgian built and looks in the order of 1974/5.

My publications guide shows these engine as having different parts listings, meaning that quite a few parts are different. It also lists the service manuals as different, meaning the same thing.

What sort of parts are you looking for from it?

Can't be 1985....
4 cylinder, 85hp ran from 1973 to 1977!!! There was also a 6 cylinder 85 in 1963 and 1964.

so I typed it in incorrectly..........I meant '75!!
