I have a 1980 100 h evinrude, the tilt trim was not working so I cut the wires at the switch and ran them to the battery (up<down), the motor went up and down so I guess this probably means the switch is bad because I tested at the end of the line? And can you tell me how to put oil in my tilt trim, when I loosened the relief screw to lower the motor it lost oil, and the oil was milky.

Re: Tilt Trim switch

Maybe the switch is bad, or maybe the fuse is blown; what you did was to bypass the fused circuit.

Click the thumbnail so that you can see the wiring diagram.

You have to lift the motor and support it to fill. Then remove the slotted screw and fill until it flows out. Have the boat level as possible. Recap before removing the support.

Re: Tilt Trim switch

It was the switch (46.00 dollars) for a small switch, crazy.
