Evinrude angler help please

Had an evinrude angler given to me,it runs but the pinion gear teeth are broken.Need to know part # ,where to order,and how to replace.The only numbers I know are the serial #5502S-E07006.Would also like to Know year and horsepower. Thanks, Darren

5502 is a 1965, 5 hp

I have no manual.The only way I can start the motor is wrap a rope around flywheel.Thats why I would like to replace the pinion gear.

So you are talking about the starter gear, not the gearcase pinion gear?

The starter pinion is part no 311189

Yes it is the starter pinion gear.Is it difficult to replace and could someone give detailed instruction on replacement.
