89 50 hp johnson with tilt and trim

Hello all! This is my first post! I just bought a bass tracker with a 1989 50 hp johnson motor on it, The trim does'nt work I can hear the trim motor running when I press the up or down switch either way, nothing, I also drained the fluid it was a milky color, when it run's I can hear it making a missing noise like there is air in it or somehting, please help Can these be rebuilt? Also the trim unit is mounted underneath with the trim motor on the left! Thank's wisctrkrman

welcome to iboats.

i would try refilling and bleeding. raise the motor all the way up, pushing up button and physical force. lock motor in place, fill tank. close tank, now lower all the way down, now back up same way, refill, close lower. repeat, repeat, repeat until it will take no more fluid. it should work now. cycle 6 times, check fluid. if still full. you are good to go. watch for leaks.
