I have a Suzuki DT40 that has been sitting for months. I recently(6 months ago) had the motor gone over including changing the lower end grease. I run it with rabbit ears monthly. the last two months, and today it started right away and ran fine. The motor sits upright on the boat and out side. I live in northern WA state(where it gets quite cold)
In the first couple minutes a couple ounces of green grease came oozing out from the area behind the prop nut.
I noticed no water was comming from the upper exhaust port and shut it down.
After cleaning the grease away and putting the ears on better(they were real loose) I started the motor and it ran fine for 20 minutes with no more grease appearing.
Need I worry?
