80's mercury outboard 7.5 hp over heating????

my motor is 7.5 hp mercury and it get hot really fast. i dont know if im supposed to have oil in the lower unit?? there is a drain plug at the top that says " flush " and that is it,, some one told me there is water thats pumps through the lower unit to cool it but i dont know. i have had this motor for 4 yrs and never had a problem with it till know. is something wrong with it or is my gas bad? the gas is mixed 50-1 but its last years gas. well hope some one can help me out..

You need 2 things a water pump repaired and a manual
