My boat has been sitting up for about 6 months and I went and got it the other day to clean it up and sell it. So when I got it home i put my muffs on it and it wouldnt stay running on its own so I thuoght maybe it was low on oil and had an auto shutoff, so I took the hood off and looked to see if it was low oil but it wasnt. So I left the hood off to start it and I could crank it and idle it up and leaving running and I walked around to look at everything and there was fuel coming out of the middle carb side. Would this be caused by a leaking or broken jet or something major? Like I said I havent messed with this baot in about 6 months so I havent did anything to it to make it leak. I am guessing the jet is the brass looking circle on the side of the carb. I am not too familar with boat motors mainly 4 wheelers, so I am guessing that is the jet. Thanks in advance for the help!

Ok so when I take the carb off do I need to get a kit before I put it back on? Also does anyone have any info regarding float height for this motor or know where I can find such info? Motor Serial - OG176816.

Thanks

i would be in agreement with bondo, the float has probly settled from setting all winter,. if the fuel is clean, just try tapping the float bowl to get the float to rise up again, this should stop the fuel leak. other wise a mild carb rebuild may be in order.

yes the lil bras screw on the side are the air fuel mixture ratio screw,. the jets. are ussually integrated into the float bowl retaining srew. on the bottom of the carb.

I would think it is the float, I had the same problem with a small Honda engine and the float was "FULL" of gas and had sunk.

tapped on the fuel bowl and the floats didnt come up so I am just going to pull the carb off and pull it apart and see if the floats are bad on it. Should I just go ahead and buy a kit for it since I will have it apart? If so where should I get it from? Thanks!

ok got the carb rebuilt and its not leaking fuel anymore but when I start the motor it idles real high and the rpms jump around for a second and then it dies. I played with the idle screw but that didnt seem to do anything. Do you guys have any ideas on this topic?
