Re: How fast will my new boat go

There's much more than $100 worth of parts there if nothing else. I had a similar vintage Johnson 85 and it was a great motor. Sold it in excellent running condition the end of last season.

it is worth every penny. Nice lady to let you get it running, then decide.:)Pay her before I let my buds in Sebasco know it is out there!

Re: How fast will my new boat go

its a longshaft, i think its looks kinda cool, the outboard is just about 5 feet tall, its rediculous

Ayuh,... cause it Is ridiculous...

Is going to run like crap,+ handle even Worse...
You've be lucky to make 30mph without dumping it...
Running a long shaft motor on a short transom boat is Begging for Trouble.....

Re: How fast will my new boat go

I dont know for sure the boat calls for a short shaft, the cavitation plate lines up just about with the bottom of the transom

that tells me that the boat needs a longshaft engine.

right now im going to empty the water out of the barrel and get some lower end pics

now im curious

EDIT---Siphoning as we speek :p

Re: How fast will my new boat go

Actually it sounds like you're good. The cav plate should be even to about an inch or so above the keel.

that would make sense because i was thinking it was a little under the transom, still ganna get pictures to make sure

EDIT- Well now it wont let me upload pictures so i guess thats off

How warm should the water be before i go try it out?

Re: How fast will my new boat go

I had a boat like that and it regularly went 65 or 70 ... to and from the lake ... slower if it was in the water,

Re: How fast will my new boat go

how did it handle? my 16' deep "v" hull with 75hp suzuki 2 stroke will hit 38 mph with 2 people 12 gallons of gas, and a cooler. I would think 43 or so could be reached. the guys in the prop section can help you dial it in, I recommend you stop by get schooled in proper prop and engine hieght on transome, it made a differance for me and my boat

Re: How fast will my new boat go

me (155lbs) my dad(210ish) 6 gallons of gas a deep cycle battery and 2 big comfy heavy chairs

had it doing 43 it was still climbing but i dont like to run stuff real hard, would do 45 i bet

handles great, when i drove it alone tho the boat is so light that it turned really sharp to the right and when i wasnt on plane and getting onto plane was a little weird because it was tilted from me being on the right

and with the prop, i think i could put more pitch and maybe get it to do 50 flying solo, it got there really quick and punched hard when i went wot from anyspeed.

i dont have a tach so tuning in a good prop would be hard wouldnt it?

can you tell if this boat is a deep v hull?
