There's much more than $100 worth of parts there if nothing else. I had a similar vintage Johnson 85 and it was a great motor. Sold it in excellent running condition the end of last season.
Is going to run like crap,+ handle even Worse...
You've be lucky to make 30mph without dumping it...
Running a long shaft motor on a short transom boat is Begging for Trouble.....
how did it handle? my 16' deep "v" hull with 75hp suzuki 2 stroke will hit 38 mph with 2 people 12 gallons of gas, and a cooler. I would think 43 or so could be reached. the guys in the prop section can help you dial it in, I recommend you stop by get schooled in proper prop and engine hieght on transome, it made a differance for me and my boat
me (155lbs) my dad(210ish) 6 gallons of gas a deep cycle battery and 2 big comfy heavy chairs
had it doing 43 it was still climbing but i dont like to run stuff real hard, would do 45 i bet
handles great, when i drove it alone tho the boat is so light that it turned really sharp to the right and when i wasnt on plane and getting onto plane was a little weird because it was tilted from me being on the right
and with the prop, i think i could put more pitch and maybe get it to do 50 flying solo, it got there really quick and punched hard when i went wot from anyspeed.
i dont have a tach so tuning in a good prop would be hard wouldnt it?
