Re: how to remove throttle handle?

Thanks for the response but still need help..
The wiring to the shift is interior mounted. I can't loosen the shift but it will not come off, not sure why. I am not sure what you mean by different remote controls, can you be a little more specific? Boat is a Cajun Fiberglass boat, interior shift cable. It was run with the muffs on and everything was fine but when we put the boat in the water, would not go forward or reverse....

Is your remote control like the one in the linked thread? How about a picture of what you have?

Re: how to remove throttle handle?

That's called a "remote control concealed side mount with trim switch".

The handle is released by pushing in the button in the center, turning it as far aft as it will go (3 o'clock) and loosening the allen set screw from the bottom of the handle (then at 9 o'clock).

You will find the diagram for your remote control in the 1991 "OB Accessories" section of the BRP/Evinrude parts catalogs: http://shop.evinrude.com/

Navigate to Parts, then at the drop list window select "OB Accessories", then "1991", then "Remote Control Concealed Side Mount". The allen screw is # 41 in the diagram.
