highest rpms a 75 merc should run at

when i purchased my boat the seller told me not to run over 4800 rpms. said he put on a different prop. the boat is a 2003 model 1866 smokercraft jmv. its alumimun,not sure of the weight. i know i have more throttle and it seems boat should run faster than it does at 4800 rpm. but i dont want to ruin my motor either. i dont have a gps or speedomitor.

so it dont matter what prop you have. even still though,im not going to get much more speed than i am now it i run it at 5200 rpm.
