i have a 18 hp fastwin 1965 model. had it out on the lake today. at first everything was fine, idol great ran good but then it started acting like it was missing on one cylinder like it was flooding out. it appeared to be running fine at wide open throttle but any slower the problem would start. tried easing out on the choke to see if maybe it was because of lack of fuel but just went dead. could only start it with alot of throttle, usually it will start real easy with very little throttle.pulled the plugs when i got home and they looked OK(new plugs last week) but run wide open throttle till i was almost at the boat launch, any ideas

Everything you say supports the theory that it is flooding .

Check the float and its associated needle valve.

If it's a cork float it's probably in need of replacement.

The valve could be worn, sticking or just have some muck on the seat.

Also check the fuel level. Unless anybody advises differently the valve should just close when the float is horizontal
