Will a 1969 40 hp evinrude armature plate and flywheel work on a 1960 40hp evinrude. I found a couple cheap parts just not the same year. This is killing me to find parts. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks **** from ohio

I don't see why they wouldn't. It's just a matter of getting all the goodies back on the plate of your 60 model, when you change over. There may be some minor differences in the linkages and such, but the plate should work. All you can do is try the best you can to match them up.

Re: Question about year to year parts?

When i bought the motor, that is what it is missing is the armature plate and flywheel. I bought a parts catalog for it but I cannot seem to locate exact part numbers. I am trying to compare things on internet to my parts book. The one I found is only $38.00 and comes with coils and all,and the brackets and cam that bolts to it I think I will give it a shot. Thanks

Yea, that's what I was thinking too, TD. There may be some minor differences in your linkages though, so be sure to stay with your original stuff on that part. Stators with ignition system should be just fine to use though.

Whoa!! The question was armature plate and flywheel. Armature plate, probably. Flywheel, absolutely not. The 1960 has a smaller crankshaft taper. Considerably smaller. They increased the size because some of them were breaking. If your 1960 broke a crank while under warranty, the factory might have replaced the powerhead with a new "big" one. Otherwise, it has the small crank.
