It's an 81' Honda 7.5 4stroke. Took it in for a tune-up and service. I get there and he said the oil pressure is good, everything is running great....
...but
...there was water found in the lower unit. There was fishing line wrapped behind the prop and he thought it opened the seal a bit and some water got in.
I've never taken the prop off, but I have flushed the motor with the hose hookup so I have looked around down there. Never saw any line. Maybe it was a small piece and got wrapped in? Possibly mostly behind this seal? Or would it just be something you wouldn't see unless you took it apart?
He got the line out. Also said there was another seal somewhere else in there that was a non-Honda part, which could also be the reason for the leak. So he tells me that I am ok to go out fishing. Take it out a few times and check the oil by only removing the bottom plug. A bit will drip out and if it's greenish clear looking, it's good. If it was some white kinda swirl through it, it's just getting out the bit that they couldn't get out while in there. If it looks like a chocolate milkshake, the water is getting in through one of those seals and it will run about $250 to go back in and change the seals in the lower end.
He seemed like a cool/nice guy. I was wondering if this all sounds legit. I know close to nothing about boats or motors, lol.
