2007 suntracker 21ft cavitation???

Hello, fellow boaters. i looked to see if i could find a thread about my question before i posted this but i didnt find one.

OK i have a 2007 21ft suntracker party barge 90hp merc optimax. The problem is when coming out of the hole the engine goes straight to the rev limiter, no matter what speed its going. there is no speedometer just a tach.
i have had other pontoons blow me out of the water that had 70hp on them and they were the same size boat as mine. i checked to see if it was slipping in the hub of the prop and lowered the engine to the top hole from the second on the transome... still no change this boat has done this from day one and i bought it brand new.The foot seems to be sitting in the correct depth when moving. This engine is working way to hard for not going anywhere i cant even pull my 8 year old on the tube without spinning 5000 rpm just to get it out of plane thinking maybe the factory/deal has the wrong prop size on it. Dont get me wrong i know this is a pontoon not a ski boat etc.. but if i need to get some where the motor works way to hard.. and the boat just barley gets out of plain!! No help from the dealer! Has anyone had this problem with these boats....

You should start a thread in the prop section. In the first thread there they tell you all the info needed to check if the prop is right for your application. The prop could very well be the wrong one.

If you slowly accelerate can you get good speed and WOT out of this boat/motor?

Any chance you can post some pic's of your boat sitting in the water and also the prop itself?

yes if u gradually give it throttle it will go without hitting the limiter but after a certain speed, thats it anymore throttle and your on the limiter. As far as being old, Its a 07 its been in the water no more than 4 times total due to lake conditions being low here in GA. I will get some pics up on here and i will get the specs of the prop that is on it. ( The orignal prop) like i said it has done this since day one right off the showroom floor... Dealer wants to charge me to look at it and i paid 21k for it jeez i dont want to put anymore in it... lol

unfortunately for you, you should have taken it right back after the first lake run. Or called the dealer to send a tech out to see how the boat is sitting on the water.
