Merc. Flame Arrestor cover repair

Anyone have any success with repairing the big plastic flame arrestor covers? Both of the engines on this 88 Sea ray have the hole broken out. I am thinking of using a plastic (of some kind) piece on the top and bottom, epoxied and/or stainless riveted.

Any suggestions?

I have used this before on plastic repairs...it worked well.
Some auto parts stores sell it.

Mine cracked so I replaced them on both engines a few years ago. They weren't that expensive.
