1978 6 hp Evinrude. Bought it home. No spark what so ever. About went and bought a power pack and coils but got some advice to unhook stop switch and sure enough motor ran perfect with stop unhooked. Checked switch with ohm meter and checked out perfect. But still had same problem. Opened up switch and rusty water poured out of it. That was the problem. Just enough continuity for motor to sense it. Cleaned switch up with some chemicals and works perfect now. Wow I saved the cost of power pack and coils and the 49.00 new switch. Thanks to all and maybe this will help someone in the future. Thanks, Mettyfish

Ohm meter is not always a good check for stop switches. The voltage the meter uses is usually quite small. The voltage on the black yellow wire is usually 150 or higher.
best way to check is to disconnect black yellow wire.
