Need tires for my Dodge 1500 Ram. Priced some local tire shops for the Goodyear SR-A that came with the vehicle new (80,000 miles on them now) and nearly fainted. Did some research and found a nice price local for Cooper Discover H/T. Reports rate the tire comparable to my originals. Anyone have any experience with these? Thanks!

I've had two sets of Coopers. Both sets were purchased at a Quick Lane Store (Ford). Google "QuickLane". They work on anything.

One set was on a Ford Escape, the other on a Nissan Altima. The prices were great (guarenteed lowest) and the tires had no issues. Both went about 35K before selling the vehicles. They looked new.

My son is running them on his Trailblazer through some rugged snow and mud w/o problems ........

I am running Michelin LTX on my 4runner and they are wearing great too.

If you are concerned check the wear rating...... normally the higher the wear rating the harder the compound

Re: Opinions/experience with Cooper Tires

Here's a biased opinion (my family is a Cooper dealer): In general the consumer gets a lot for the money with Cooper. My current experience is on a passenger car. The original Continentals lasted 22,000 miles (I got a check as part of a class action settlement). The Coopers on the car now have 41,000 miles and still have 7/32" of tread.

I like the BFG ATs on my Jeep Cherokee (3" lift and 31s). They were purchased used, and I'm not sure why they don't balance well.

I have since been looking at Cooper (their Discoverer ST and STT) and have heard nothing but good about them. I've also heard good things about Kelly Sprigfield (aka "kelly") tires, and I was really happy with a set I ran on a car before I got the Jeep.

You're looking for HT (highway) so I'm pretty sure the info would be similar, only that the HTs ride nicer and quieter on road, at sacrafice of loose surface traction.

Had them on my smaller truck, best tire I've ever owned.

Re: Opinions/experience with Cooper Tires

My truck sees 80% highway/10% local tow and haul/ and 10% snow or sand. I went with HT because they have high treadwear and low noise, knowing I was sacrificing a little offroad grip. Hit 70 mph for a stretch today with no hum, very nice. Feeling confident these are a good choice...:)

Had a set of Coopers on an old beater about 25 years ago....very solid tires....probably the best part of that car.
They were really good value.

Put Cooper Cobras on my old Chevelle last year.
imo, the Coopers are a MUCH nicer tire than the BFG t/a's for classic cars

Ayuh,...I just swapped off a set of Coopers,..
I ran 'em 2 years on my work truck,...
I got almost exactly the same mileage outa them as the Bridgestones they replaced...
I found a set of Goodyears, mounted on Ford aluminum wheels, with centers, for $290..85% tread.. Craigslist, ya gotta Love it...
Otherwise, there'd be another set of the Coopers on it now...
