today I put the motor on the boat, hooked up the steering controls, steering arm then the battery connections. I put the positive and negative on the battery correctly - then attached the positive side to the starter solenoid in the motor, tightend down the nut and the starter engaged (note the negative / ground side was not attached to the motor yet. I then took the positive off the motor - attached the ground, then the positive again - and again, the starter motor engaged, trying to start the engine. The keyed ignition is not the culprit because I did not hood up the harness yet. Could this be the start selenoid is 'stuck' in start mode ? I don't see any crossed wires by the way. What can I check?
