I purchased a new SUV 6 months ago. When I did, the dealer had one in stock without the tow hitch. So they got the hitch/wiring installed for me at a 3rd party trailer place (one of the best in the region)
Well, I asked for 4 flat wire plug, as that's what my boat used and my new boat needed. As it turns out, the new trailer has surge brakes and I'd like to get the 5 wire installed.
Called the place who installed it since I've yet to use it and they want $85 to cut the plug off, connect a 5 pin flat in its place, a run a 5th wire to the tail light. Easy enough to do, but being new, I'd rather not just cut the plug, but see if an adapter existed that would convert from 4 pin to 5pin. (I know it'll still involve a wire run to the backup light)
Anyone know of such an adapter? I'm sure I've seen it on the Internet but can't seem to find one without buying the new harness.
