I have a 1973 Evinrude 135hp outboard motor I need help with. I have changed all the coils, Rectifier, and Power Pack and it still won't start. I only have spark at the #2 plug and nothing on 1,3,or4. Can anyone help me this?

DVA is a fancy word for peak reading voltmeter. You need one to test the DVA voltages. A regular multimeter won't work. Unless you have a DVA adapter to go with it.

Want an educated guess what is wrong with your motor? It might not be cranking fast enough. It won't have fire unless it is cranking a minimum of 200 RPM or more. --OR-- The charge coils on the stator are bad. Those are the two big coils. The original 1973 charge coils had a major problem with melting. It is hard to imagine there are any still around, but there are. If you have melting charge coils, you need a new stator, no need to even test it.

I've noticed on top of the engine there is a light green (what appears to be a plastic of sorts) hard substance, like something has melted before, but the stator looks to be new. A black (painted) circle of smaller coils, so I'm assuming that the stator has been replaced before. is there a way to test the stator?
