Read the "how to get the best results from your question" sticky post.

90 hp Mercury OUtboard
2 stroke
6 cylinder
Model year 1984
Model# 1090524
Serial begins with: 6514xxx

I need to remove the power Trim motor without removing the motor from the boat itself.

Diagnostics done:
Checked the 20amp inline fuse good. Made sure "ptt liquid" was topped off, good. Checked the celenoids w/voltmeter and they're functioning properly. Pump needs to come off to do a rebuild any suggestions/diagrams would be super helpful. Just looking to remove the square power trim motor at this point, without removing the motor itself from the boat. I dont have a cherry picker/ engine hoist available to me. Doing the work in a driveway in the northeast whenever the rain stops.

Thanks in advance.

if you have a single ram system then maybe it would be easier to take the trim system off engine than to take engine off boat.

I don't know if its similar to mine but the way I did mine was to put a jack under the skeg to support the motor. I then unbolted the starboard side of the motor and removed the nuts for the steering cables. This gave me enough clearance to move the mounting bracket out of the way and remove just the trim motor. On mine, the contact surface of the armature for the brushes was dirty. Cleaned it up and reassembled and now its fine. Hope that helps.

That's almost verbatum from the Merc Manual and BTW, the correct method. I use a engine hoist to support the motor but what ever you feel safe with is good.

Thanks for the help I'll give it a shot. Is there a copy of the merc manual available online in a pdf or would I need to order a hard copy of the manual itself?
