wonder if anyone can help me.
i plan on towing my 1993 bayliner 600nm @ 10-12 knots behind a 40 metre motor yacht.
could anyone please advise me on the best method to do this.
i plan on attaching two towing eyes to the bow.where is the best placement?
how long should the lines be ? leg up or down ?
i plan on making a wood insert for the bow section so no waves can get over..
Any advise would be appreciated..i have worked hard on rebuilding this boat, but now the yacht i work on will move.so i also need to move the bayliner.

how much does a bayliner capri 3.0 l weight?

please advise thankyou. alex

Re: towing my bayliner 600nm

I once went on a 64' Hatteras, towing a 27' center console with twin outboards, Miami/Key Largo.

We didn't use any special hook-ups on the boat being towed. I suggest using your bow eye since it's low, and then your boat will ride over the waves.

Add a back-up line so that if the bow eye fails (in the nght!) the boat isn't lost.

Use your 150' anchor line. The longer the better--makes a natural shock absorber.

Of course, the yacht will flatten the seas; haul it in close if it gets rough. if you have a strong cross wind, drag a line behind your boat to keep it straight.

My guess is tow it with the leg up. Others?

This is, of course, all for open seas. You'll have to tighten up around others. Hopefully your boat runs so you don't have to tow in and out of port (we disconnected and ran the small boat for that).

I'm no expert here.

I've never done it, but one thing I've read is that you want a long line and you want to adjust the length to match the waves. You want both boats going up and down waves at the same time. If the timing is off the pulling boat can slow down going up hill while the towed boat speeds up going down, creating slack in the line, and a large shock load when it's taken out.

This cant be real. You want to tow a $3K 18ft boat behind a 120ft yacht for 600nm? Why not just ship the Bayliner via terra firma, or sell the damn thing?!! Sounds like more trouble than it's worth to me. Hell, most yachts of that size can probably accomdate the capri by having a crane lift it out of the water and onto the deck, lol.

Tell you what, you take the Bayliner to your destination & let me handle the yacht. I'll be right behind you and catch up.... really
