Hi just wondering if I could get a little feedback from anyone out there who has been using a 4 bladed prop on a Bayliner 175 with 3.0 Mercruiser, Alpha 1 Drive,
If you have a simular boat around 18 ft with the same motor and drive that to would be of some help. doing mainly skiing,
Many thanks.

Re: Prop for 3.0 Mercruiser

I have a 1990 18ft Maxum open bow with a 3.0l mercruiser 135hp and alpha 1 outdrive with a Mercury alpha 4 p/n 48-834854A45 (14x20) 4 blade prop and my max speed is 42 mhp at 4800 rpms. The 4 blade prop gets the boat up on plane fast, and at a lower speed. I use this prop for everything, tubing, skiing, and for cruising.

Re: Prop for 3.0 Mercruiser

If you get us your present performance specs ,prop specs and boat specs, typical activities and load,it should work better than trying to find a good user match.Generally a 4 blade will improve hole shot and the ability to stay on plane with less power and throttle fiddling, some times without any loss of top end.
Member hwsiii has an excellent program that can help select the right prop; sometimes to the details of expected improvement.
