starting 25 johnson

purchasing a 25 johnson 98? it has low hours and was winterized before storage +/- 8years ago.its turns freely at flywheel.is there anything to do first before cranking it after all these years?

thank you bob vt,we tried to start it and it did weakly for a few sec.then gas poured. out of the vents? on top.so we pulled the carb,gunna dunk it and install crb. kit,is it really necc.to replace fuel lines,they seem fine and no fuel was in them, just a small amount of brown gum/fluid.in the bottom of the carb and float orifice?.
