Hello all,
I picked up a 1994 15' Rage with a 115 OMC TurboJet last fall. The previous owner had disconneted the warning horns and it overheated badly. Sand in all the wrong places and two melted cylinders. Over the winter we rebuilt the engine, installed the VRO fuel system, replaced the powerpack, and added a sea strainer. All should be good and ready to go - except its running like 'doodie'.
At low RPMs (1500 or less) there is a non-rythmic thumping sound or 'back-kicking' which leads to a stall. Runs and sounds great at 2500 RPMs or higher.
We disassembled everything trying to find a mistake and can't find the cause - very frustrated at this point. This thing should run like new and instead has us banging our heads against a wall. Any suggestions on what we might look at next would be appreciated.
Thank you
