Good Day all, I am new to this forum and have seen lots of good info here, Looking for a little help. I'm trying to help my Father with his 60 Hp Evinrude. I am unable to determine the year as the model # is gone. I see where it was but cannot read it. I did however see a stamped # on the freeze or sand cast plug on the head. Can anyone help me determine the year or what do you suggest at this point ... any help would be appreciated. The # is G3778046. The problem we are having is that the engine bogs real bad.. no power off idle thru wot. no change when fuel bulb squeezed, I have gone thru fuel system, cleaned tank, new 50:1 fuel, new fuel filter, tightened fuel hoses-multiple, new pimer bulb, overhauled carbs, new Ngk plugs, the engine starts fine and sounds real good at idle, no cylinder mis-fires,cold or hot. But when accelerated it just looses power and bogs down, but when choke button pushed during this event engine speed increases momentarily like its lean ? I have checked fuel flow from pump outlet line just cranking eng. with spark disconnected, and appears to have good/ ample fuel delivery ... almost feels like a timing issue ??? Please help the fishings getting real good and we are kinda stuck.... any ideas? Thanks Joe:confused:

Re: 60 Hp Evinrude What year

Call or visit an evinrude dealer and ask them if they can call the factory and get the model number. My local dealer did that for me. As far as your motor troubles... It sounds like you definetely have the idea it is a fuel issue. Who "overhauled" the carbs? I am not trying to belittle you, but if you did them, are you absolutely sure you got them together correctly? Activating the choke puts fuel directly into the cylinders. So if this causes your motor to power up, then I am going with carb issues. If it was timing, I think you would be hearing possible pedetonation or mis-fires with the loss of power. Also, when you reinstalled the carbs, did you do a Link and sync?

Thank You for the reply. I will take your advice on seeing the dealer for model & year info. I would hope they can help me with getting the year atleast.. Well as far as the fuel concern or what I think is a fuel concern, I pulled all 3- carbs, the bottom carb was filled a milky white mashed potato type substance and needle was rusted and deteriorated so bad I replaced needle & seat assy. super cleaned and blew thru all passages in all carbs even used a torch tip cleaner to verify pagges clean & clear then reassembled all as usual, went together perfectly, no issues at all. I am stumped as far as what to due next. It really does appear to be a fuel concern or lack of. any ideas ? I did find the upper and lower carbs were missing the carb linkage plastic swivel retainer so installed two new ones, did verify all were opening at the same time bye eye, Thanks again Joe
