1959 Evinrude Lark 35 hp steering conversion

I was wondering if anyone has done a conversion with the steering from the pully system to the rotary steering system yet? anyone know what i would need to get this done on a 1959 Evinrude Lark 35 hp? anyone have pictures?
thanks this site has helped me wonders so far.

There is a standard conversion kit to make that change. It involves bolting a support tube to the splashwell, and connecting the steering cable end to the motor. Look on the teleflex.com website and you should see what you need. The parts are available at many marine stores, and certainely by web order.

There is also the option of adding a tube to the clamp brackets. It is a bolt on part - I had one that I let go a few weeks ago. Looks like this:

Thank you for the picture. I guess the problem I am having is I live in minnesota and even though we are land of 10,000 lakes, everyone from the Marine stores have told me it can not be done but I know anything can be done. I just dont know what I need parts wise as no one at any of the marine stores next to me know what there own name is.

It can be done. My 1959 35 hp Lark was converted from the old pully system. I'll find some pics to post.

thank you for the help and pics, where did you get the steering bar from? is that set up home made?

Unfortunately, it came with the boat, so I don't know anything about it. The bracket has the name "Westwind" on it and that's it. I can't imagine the demand is too high for this conversion, so it maybe hard to find.
