Mercrusier loose prop question

Hi, can anyone tell me if it is normal for a prop to be a little loose on the shaft of a mercruiser outdrive? I'm considering buying a boat that seems to be in great condition except for this one thing. It moves slightly up and down seperate of the shaft also back and forth in rotation direction as well. It dosent seem to me that it should have any play between the shaft and prop but i'm not 100o/o sure. If it is not normal will it most likely need both a new prop and shaft or just a prop? Thanks.

no,the prop shouldnt be loose but all is not lost ,it may be a simple issue as a loose prop nut.... worth a check.

Thanks for the info. seller said the nut was tightened to spec.

Loose prop is not good, but might not be bad either.
