help stalls when in reverse

Hi I am very new to the boating world I just bout my first boat last month (1995 reinell 203 w/ Alpha one 5.7) I took the boat out on sun and when I put it in reverse off the trailer everything was fine but as soon as I tried to geive it gas the motor dies. It ran like a champ going foward though. Any thoughts?

probably one of two things

easiest first....let the engine warm up before you back her of the trailer

second you might have to have your shift cable adjusted probably the lower

your in the wrong thread you need to be in the mercruiser omc thread and welcome to iboats
