Hi,

I have water squirting out of my sparkplug socket and think its the head gasket. Is this the right thinking? and does anyone have the tourque specs to put the cover back on when I take it off?

Thanks in advance.

Likely the water jacket gasket, not the head gasket.

I can't fine water jacket gasket in my clymer for an 1980 85hp. Which gasket is the "water jacket gasket"?

Thanks.

Is the water coming from the spark plug hole (in other words - you have water coming from inside the actual cylinder), or is the spark plug firmly installed - and you still get water?

The water was coming out between the sparkplug and the hole it goes in.

I struggle to see how water could be coming out through the threads between the head and the sparkplug. Is the sparkplug electrode wet with water on it?

It seems the most likely scenario, assuming that the spark plug is tightened all the way in, that the water jacket gasket is leaking and it only appears as though it is coming from the spark plug threads. Is this possible lacsboy?

Gotta be honest with you, sure its possible. Noticed it as I was taking the boat out of the water last fall during winterizing. Haven't touched it since. This weekend I was hoping to get it ready and in the water so I posted the question. Now I have pulled up the breakdowns on the motor and can't find the water jacket gasket is it a big job to replace?
