Power to the switch? (bad switch) Broken wire to battery? Start tracing with a 12 volt tester to see where you are getting power or not.

Re: courtesy lights

The power supplying your switch is terminated at the center terminal. The power that feeds your lights comes off the bottom terminal. Check for power first at the center terminal. If you don't have power there, check the fuse that protects that circuit, unless there is a breaker that protects it, make sure it's not tripped. If the fuse/breaker check OK, then turn the switch on and see if you have power to the bottom terminal. If you do, then it is the wiring that goes from the switch to the lights. If you don't, then it's the switch.

check the fuse. Then check the bulb connections for corrosion.

Re: courtesy lights

On my Campion the wiring to the switches is in a daisy chain. It is possible for the connector to come off the switch and still have all the other switches work. Are your switches lighted, and does the switch light when you switch to the "ON" position? I assume that all lights are off, including the instrument cluster and nav lights. This would indicate the problem is the power to the switch, the switch, or the wiring just after the switch.

I am also assuming that other functions work correctly when you operatetheir switches. I only have a single fuse for the group of functions.

Use a tester or multimeter and check for voltage at the switch and then keep going through switch working your way forward to the lamps.

Re: courtesy lights and I need help

Anyone familiar with this type of light? I have one on each side underneath the gunwales. They don't work presently (power, corrosion, etc) and I am working through those issues. But, I might like to get new ones, and or replacement bulbs. The bulbs are festoon, but I can't seem to find the exact ones at West Marine.
Thanks

Re: courtesy lights

I have checked several locations. West Marine (nothing but LEDs and they don't match). My boat is a 1997 Sunbird Neptune v hull runabout 18 ft. If I can get the right sized festoon bulbs, I might be able to clean both of them up and they should work.
Thanks

Anyone else?

those bulbs look very similar to old style dome light bulbs in cars. check your local auto parts store.

Also, the LED versions of these are available. They cost about twice as much but use only about 1/7th of the current.

Re: courtesy lights

I already have an LED from West Marine that looked similar but it doesn't fit exactly which means I would have to modify/adjust the gunwale insert. Not overly complicated, but I was trying to avoid extra work. But, if that's what it comes down to, so be it. I have done some travelling at night, but not too much, so these lights are more of a nice to have, but not necessary to be operational.

Thank you.
