Hello all! I have been having a little problem with my force 85 motor. It will run, but there is gas coming out of the little hole above the bowl on the bottom carb. I took it apart, checked for a stuck float, nothing. So...I am trying to find a carb rebuild kit for these numbers: WE18-1D and WE18-2C. I can't seem to cross reference the numbers anywhere, and the guys at the parts place looked at me like I just farted. Any help you guys can give me would be awesome. Like I said before, it is a force 85 hp, 3 cyl with 3 carbs.
Is it part number FK10125?

Ethanol is messing up a lot of motors. It's delaminating the inside of older hoses causing clogs in the carbs and fuel filter.Check for soft hoses and junk in the filter on the motor.
It sounds like the needle/seat is not sealing(maybe ethanol). How much is it leaking. After checking the float did it slow it down? What year motor?J

Re: Force 85 carb issues

there is a steady stream of gas coming out, only on the bottom carb. After taking it apart and cleaning it, there was no change. Motor ran fine before, all hoses seem fine, good compression in all cylinders. My next course of action is to replace gaskets and jets right? PS, motor is an 89.

Re: Force 85 carb issues

As already mentioned it sounds like a bad needle and seat. With the crappy gas we have it is tough on them. There is a small chance it could be a sinking float. I believe they have brass floats so you should be able to tell by shaking and listening for gas inside it. A gasket kit will help , replacing the jets as you mentioned should not be needed. Just a good cleaning of the carb. My money is on just a bad needle and seat.

I had the same issue when a mechanic had not installed the floats properly and level. They need to be hang level and perpendicular to the body of the carb when flipped upside down. There is a tab (part of the float) where the float attaches that is used to adjust the height of the float. I would make sure the float in the bottom carb is set right before throwing money at it.

How did it work out? I am having the same problem. I clean the float bowl and checked the float. It stopped air when I tipped it upside down. I put it back together and still had fuel running out of the hole when I pumped the priming bulb. the needle is a metal to metal fit against the seat. Are the kits the same or do they use a viton tipped needle?
