Well I bought a new boat this year and have used it probably a dozen times now. Today when I went in reverse on the cold engine it slipped out of gear. Then I drove around the lake for about an hour, I was idling went to gun it to get on plane and it slipped out of gear after briefly being in gear. It did this a second time when I was cruising around 10mph and gave it some throttle again. Any ideas?

Probably your lower shift cable.

I'm not sure about the cable. In an alpha drive, once the gears engage, they lock together. The more power you put to the gears, the tighter they lock. I'm thinking you may have some rounded teeth on the clutch dog and or gears probably from slow shifting.

I'm with JJ on this one. It may have been your shift cable that caused the problem to begin with, but it sounds like this has been happening for some time. Which would result in rounded clutch and gear dogs.
Dissassembly and inspection is what is needed for the lower unit.

Actually comming out of gear? I was thinking it could be a slipped prop hub he is experiencing.

remove the plastic hub from the prop and make sure it's not cracked

Well I was out today and this didn't happen once so I'm not too concerned about it at this point. I had 8 people on the boat and I was beating it up pretty good.
