I have a 1995 force 120 that i am having a firing problem. I have purchased a clymer manual that says i have thunderbolt ignition, But the stator on my boat is the red stator and it does not have the correct wires that the book says to check. If you look at the cdm ignition i have that stator. But the cdm does not have a switch box and i do. Any help would be nice thanks.......

Re: Force 120 need help, question about stator

My stator is a 398-832075-a4 i have two yellow wire and a green and white and a white and green. the green wires go to a black plastic piece and come out blue and go to the switch box. The manual shows that i am supposed to have two red wires also that run th the switch box. My switch box has a spot for them but it is capped off. Is this the upgraded stator and what is the black box that the green wires run to. THANKS

I had a red stator on my motor as well, but the wires ran into a convertor box. From what my manual was showing, i was missing 2 wires, but being a mercury part it had the convertor box with different wires on it. Probably not much help to you but i figured it was like that because it was the mercury upgrade for a force stator.
