Hi all
New to this site
Just acquired a 1985 Evinrude outboard (model BE15BACOB).
Now hair pulling out time ???
Water pump question ?
I only have a drip coming out of the pee hole, I have changed the impeller but not the casing (black plastic type) or seals.
I have checked the thermostat and it looks to be OK.
The motor purrs like a kitten with no misfiring or grumpy running etc and after running either with muffs on or in a tub of water after 10 mins or so it isn?t excessively hot as I can touch the cylinder head constantly and it?s not that hot.
I have not had it running on my boat as yet.
It?s definitely pumping as water exits the prop and spray comes from the exhaust balancing hole just below the powerhead, and water doesn?t seem to be leaking to anywhere else.
I?ve checked YouTube and the same engines give out a constant pee from the pee hole !
Mine does not but it runs great and it?s not overheating ???
Do I need to worry ??????????????????????????????????????????
Any help would be gratefully appreciated.
