What is marine grade wiring? Do I really need it, or can I use a "regular" spool of wire?

In the land of computers, often times a seller will put a Mac logo on a box, and sell the exact same item as a "Mac Compatible" version, and charge 50% more for it.

This is why I ask. I was at West Marine the other day, and the prices for there wiring was insanely high. I just need to string up some LEDs mostly, I'm not wiring up.

Fortunately, marine grade toilet paper is NOT tinned.

Eagh... Wire is wire. Just use quality wire and not lamp cord.

West Marine is rediculous for wire prices.

Disagree. Wire is not just wire. Of course I am just an electrical engineer...what would I know.

This guy has great prices on marine tinned wire.

Its up to you what you install. Marine tinned wire won't get all the corrosion on it which will happen after awhile.

Yup. It's tinned, has more strands per gauge than automotive-type stranded wire, and thicker sheathing. Sheathing also formulated to better withstand abrasion, water, solvents and temperature extremes. Yes, there is a difference.

There is a HUGE difference! Just look at the stranded crap you buy at HD. Just that, crap!

And Bruce is right, genuinedealz has the best prices by far...
