Howdy,

I have a 1984 Mercruiser 120. I noticed oil in the bilge and tracked it down to a leaky oil drain plug. The plastic gasket looked kinda melted onto the plug. I replaced that with a new one, but I'm still leaking oil. It's not a huge amount...maybe 1/4 quart a week....but I'd like to fix it. Other than dropping the pan and getting an new one, any ideas? I thought about draining the oil and putting teflon tape on the drain plug to see if that helps. Thanks!

Are you sure it doesn't have a pinhole from rust in it?

Well, I went and grabbed my flashlight and mirror...wiped the area and waited and watched to see where it would come out and sure enough...about a 1/2 inch from the drain hole is a small rust spot...and that's where it's coming out. Thanks! Guess I need a new pan.
