the eye should be bolted thru the hull with a backing plate and lock nuts. can you see those on there or no? the eye should have studs that go thru the hull. you gotta get the structure right then its on to the matching gelcoat/sanding etc. for looks. it doesnt look good, maybe it was a temp. fix for the previous owner?

yea it was from the previous owner
i got the boat real real cheap and this was one of the set backs.

i dont think the eye was pulled through when i got it the roller was falling apart and he was just running it up a raw bolt when loading.

In an earlier post of mine I asked about the rust in/on the gelcoat, - regular rust remover and/or CLR did the trick, as for the rust you need stainless bolts nuts and washers, the eye goes through the hull and has a backing plate to prevent it from being pulled through the hull

Hang around a lot you will learn to rule yer boat

you might have to cut that eye off and maybe cut the patch off to see what was done. Basically, maybe you would be better off re-doing it correctly then you know you did it right, put the right eye in there, etc. The resin probably is what turned it all yellowish. As for the actual repair, the restoration forum would probably be able to tell ya exactly what to do. Dont worry, good thing about being on here is someone has probably had to do what your going thru :D
