Never listen to a dealor. They are F. O. S. They tell you these things, because they of course want you to come back and buy a new motor. Often times when they no longer stock parts, other people will have the parts you need for many years. The dealors are just one source out of many.
The best way to determine which is the best motor to keep, is to check them over thoroughly and keep the one that is in the best mechanical condition. Do a compression test on the two of them and see which one has the best readings.
