water pump pressure?

1994 Sea Ray 300 Sundancer w twin 5.7 Mercruisers. At initial launch this spring our aft cabin was flooded with water when the marina launched the boat and ran it from the well to the slip(100 yards). This went unoticed by them even though they should have checked for leaks, doing their due dilligence at launch since they winterized it and launched it. At any rate we dried it up not knowing where the water came from. The first time we attempted to use the boat and ran the engine the entire aft, salon and front were filled with 2-3 feet of hot water in a matter of 30-45 minutes. There is a pair of hoses that come from the port engine and runs to the water heater. One of the hoses comes right from the top of the water pump to the water heater and the other comes from the water manifold area. At any rate the marina claims that there was a piece of foreign plastic in the water heater that caused a restriction that caused the water hose from engine to the water heater to blow off and flood the boat. It seems odd since we put the boat away working fine and it has a problem instantly at launch. We did have the marina winterize the boat for storage and also had them replace the port exhaust flapper this spring when a piece of the flapper was found when replacing the prop annode. My question is can the water pump really produce enought pressure to blow a clamped hose off? I also wonder if there is a restiction in the water heater, wouldn't the coolant system bypass somehow? If the piece of plastic they found in the water heater was there, how did it get there? Was it introduced at winterization or when the flapper was replaced? The coincidence of this issue is making the whole deal way too hard to accept. If anyone has thoughts on this, I would love to hear them. I believe that someone left the hose off or didn't properly tighten the clamp when they were working on the boat.

Re: water pump pressure?

Sweet. I've never heard of a boat with an indoor bath. :)

Did you find the hose that was off? I'm not sure why they would have taken it off in the first place.

Yes, and No.
Yes, if the hose is not properly tightened or has a bad spot in the hose.
No, if none of the above is present.

I would bet when they did the winterize they removed it to poor in some RV anti-freeze and didnt tighten it back up. (first mistake) then when they launched it they didnt notice or repair it. (2nd and 3rd mistakes)

Now, can you prove that they were negligent? probably not.
It all boils down to weather or not you think they just made a mistake or not. then go from there.
