hey guys, i have a question for you. so i just purchased a 1963 johnson 75 hp super sea horse. i got it home and realized that it was missing some mounting brackets. the guy said he was going to send them to me and i don't see it happening. is there a place i can find something that works? or what can i do? i'm not gearhead obviously so i can't describe exactly what i'm talking about so i included a picture and you might see what i need. the motor sits on the boat but is no way to secure it to the transom. please, please help me out.

Go to http://shop.evinrude.com/ and click on Electronic Parts Catalog. It only goes back to 1968, but that's ok because they take the same mounting brackets. If you go in salt water, you should use the pricy stainless steel bolts. Otherwise, use at least grade-5 steel bolts.

F R thanks for the reply, however i am having some difficulties. i followed your directions and all i ended up getting were these categories: CARBURETOR GROUP
CRANKSHAFT GROUP
DISTRIBUTOR GROUP
ELECTRIC STARTER GROUP
EXHAUST TUBE GROUP
EXHAUST COVER GROUP
FUEL PUMP GROUP
FUEL TANK GROUP
GEARCASE GROUP
INSTRUMENTS AND CABLE GROUP
LOWER MOTOR COVER GROUP
MOTOR COVER GROUP
POWERHEAD GROUP

And it also didn't have 75 hp group. i couldn't find the parts in any of these categories. help again would be appreciated. thanks.

Look under EXHAUST COVER GROUP for either the 65 or 85 horse V4. The 85 was just the 80 with CDI ignition, and the 80 is really just the 75-horse V4.

Is your motor an electric shift (Electramatic) or mechanical shift (side snap lever shift)?

At any rate it looks like the clamp assembly parts for port & for starboard are common to the 65 & 85. I believe most if not all the early V4 motors (pre-1969) use those clamps

hey i ended up looking there after i posted that and i found what i needed. i need a tilting bolt which there is none in stock and a tilting thrust rod. i also need the port and starbord clamp assembly that you mentioned. is there a good place to look for used parts like this, mainly the clamp assembly? is there a cheaper alternative? i've already spent more than i wanted on this motor.

I just purchased a set from ebay for under $40. Keep your eye on that too.
