Anyone have any info on what may interchange with the old splined shafts on vintage Johnson / Evinrudes like my 67 Reveler?

The shaft looks much smaller than autos from this time period, but i may be way off base- Seems pretty small anyway- I will count the teeth and get a true diameter later today, but just wanted to start the info search asap. Heres a photo for basic reference.

I do love the vintage wheel, but its just too huge for my tall build and lack of seat adjustability.

seems like the 3rd hub over from this Schmitt photo could be close

would this connect to the outdrive outside of the transom aka drilling holes ect... or would it connect inside the boat?

Typically inside. However, I hesitate to give out any advice on one of those boats as I think they were pretty unique animals in a lot of ways.
