Was hoping there was someone out there who has had this problem or might know what it is. Motor will start and run fine at idle or in neutral, but when put under load at "wot" it hesitates like it is starving for fuel or ignition. It doesn't do this everytime you put the motor under strain, and sometimes it doesn't do it at all,but when it occurs it takes a good while for it to clear up. Both carbs and fuel system have been completely cleaned out and went through, new plugs, wires, fuel tanks, fuel filters, etc. Motor was running about 30-32mph at 5200rpm last summer and this year only 28-30mph at 4800rpm. Magnapower ignition was replaced in early 80's,but i can't seem to find many electrical parts or info for this particular year model# motor. I'm completely clueless as to what is causing this issue. Any and all help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have a 73 55hp Chrysler that did the same thing. Although, my motor does not have 2 carbs and all the extra electronic stuff. So in my case the carb was adjusted too lean and was melting the pistons. Little melted balls of aluminum were being smashed into the spark plugs, thus rendering them inoperable. Now when this happened, it was only on one cylinder. The motor kept running, but lost power. However, the motor would run erratic just before the loss of power. Lots of hesitation under WOT. I Got lucky, I caught it before it ruined the pistons and cylinders. Check your spark plugs, if there are little balls stuck between the isolator and plug wall you will know what you are up against. Maybe that will help.

Plugs all look fine, it also smooths out when you back off the throttle just a touch.
