Mid 70's Merc I/O 120 Exhaust Bellow replacement Help

Hi all.

I got ahold of an older (mid 70s) Glaspar Citation (beautiful boat on plane) with the Merc 120 in it. After doing a tune up, greasing the joints, and changing the fluids, I was pleasantly suprised that it fired right up and runs remarkably well...

Problem is, it appears that the Exhaust bellows is cracked pretty bad and is dribbling water into the bilge.

I've got a OEM part on order (Having read the issues other people have had with 3rd party rubber parts) but wanted any advice before tackling this project.

It looks pretty straight forward, 4 hose clamps to loosen, then pull the bellow off. Slide the new one on and retighten the hose clamps.

Heard there might be problems getting the new one back on. Any tricks or tips?

Thanks in advance!

WD-40 or any spray silicone will help.In real rough case the manifold will have to be loosened.I think it's easier to loosen the manifold than try to change the riser gasket after the risers been on it for any length of time.J

Ayuh,... Is this the rubber Bellows under the outdrive,..??
Or,..
The rubber Coupler, between the exhaust Riser,+ the downpipe,..??

The rubber coupler between the exhaust manifold and the downtube. Per the Seloc book I have, it says it's the exhaust bellows (No idea if the book is right though)

AHA! Found the boat is a 1969 Glaspar Citation, not a mid 70s. (Not sure that it matters as I've been matching things by part numbers.)
