I have cobalt 29' cruiser using twin volvo penta 5.7gsi engines with SX-M drives. My mechanic has diagnosed trim gauges not working to be replacement of sender units in outdrive. Mechanic is unable to find a way to replace senders without pulling both engines. Does anyone have experience with this?

Nope,... I don't,... Sounds like a good reason to learn to live with 'em though....

Do you have a few photos of the engine compartment that you could post?

Are the engines tight, (Close to each other)?

Is there room for a small guy to reach behind the engine for a while?

Yeah, when I worked in Alaska, we had one boat like that. I couldn't get close to those senders, but we had one skinny guy that was able to do the job. Didn't really loose much blood either. Which was a good thing, because I have no clue how we would have pulled the engines either, they were back under the aft deck with no access above them.
